Lip syncing
We had to practice lip syncing which is a skill that we needed to learn in order to make our music video. As a group we decided that i would lip sync a certain part of the song that we will be making a music video of. This allowed us to see which parts of the songs that we would choose to lip sync with and which ones would be more effective using lip sync.
The lyrics that we decided to lip sync to was "Girl i left your bag in the driveway, why the blank face?
I musta been stupid to think you had my back in the first place
before the money came when i had nothing".
Lip syncing gained as an insight into how we would organise the cast in order to lip sync for our music video.Whilst filming this we decided on the most effective way of making sure the scene was lip synced and how we could make lip syncing easier when filming for our music video. The most effective way was to lip sync whilst the segment of the track that we wanted to lip sync to was playing. This made sure that the actor was already in sync with the track and would make it easier for us to edit with the song.
In order to complete the lip sync we had to edit it using Final cut pro.
As we were already familiar with Final Cut pro it did not take long to edit the lip sync unlike last year where it took time to get used to the software and use it effectively
Since we used match cut for our lip syncing :as we used two different angles for one shot, we had to edit the two angles together. We decided to use Match cut as it portrays two different views to the audience instead of a long continous shot. This makes the audience feel more connected to the singer as they can see him in more than one view.
One was a mid shot which we decided upon as we wanted to present the singer in a clear viewpoint to the audience. Another was a low angle shot as we wanted to subvert the typical convention of a low angled shot showing strength as in this scene it shows the singer as being vulnerable and weak.
We learnt key new skills in final cut pro which would help us in our actual music video. Some of these skills include taking away the filmings original sound and replacing it with the actual song in more clearer quality. This would make it easier for the audience to hear it and would actually sound like it has been lip synced. Also we learnt to microedit as we needed to identify which part of the song we needed to edit with the filming of the lip sync. To do this we needed to carefully pick out which seconds were needed to arrange with the filmed scenes.
We learnt alot by doing this practise and it would help us alot when we decide to start on our media production.
