Album/Branding Analysis

(Imran khan-Unforgettable)

Imran khan-Ni Nachleh
Imran Khan-Amplifier

One connection between the music videos is the choice of costume attire worn by the lead singer.

In both Ni Nachleh and Imaginary the artist is shown to be wearing a leather jacket and this type of clothing may have been chosen in order to portray the artist as being "cool" and building his social image as these type of clothing are associated with people who may be living a lavish lifestyle e.g partying clothes.

This would attract their target audience as teens may instantly associate the clothes as being indicators of the party life and may watch until the end of the music video or through the music video in order to see scenes where the lead singer is shown to be partying .

This is in relation to the theory of audiences using media text as a form of escapism from their dull everyday life as they want to view a media text which provides scenarios of living a lavish lifestyle or a lifestyle that is considered fun like partying with beautiful women.

This may be because teens often believe that parties and the nightlife are fun and often want to be a part of it along with the idea of partying being "cool".

One of the other connections that the music videos have is that both music videos present the women as objects of desires. This is evidenced by the way the women move as in both videos they move in a way that is considered sexual. This is another convention typically found in music videos as women are often presented as being objects of desires in R&B music videos in order to attract the target audience. This can be better explained by the male gaze theory as the theory states that in film and media texts the camera looks at women in the perspective of a heterosexual male. This can be applied to both these music videos as the camera follows the movements of the women. The camera movements are often shown to be slowly panning up from a womens feet to her body. This can be applied to the male gaze theory as it represents the males checking out a women from her feet and slowly moving up in order to portay women as being sexual objects.
